Owed is run by NUDA
NUDA is an independent music company and a publisher member of SACEM, the French authors' society. Recovery needs a registered publisher to sign the agreement and declare your songs — that is NUDA's role. Your songs are declared at SACEM, and through its agreements with the other societies they are collected worldwide.
NUDA also runs a label, but recovery has nothing to do with it: no record deal, no rights on your recordings, nothing beyond the songs and the term written in the agreement.
Before you sign
Do I give away my songs?
No. It is an administration deal: you keep the copyright. We register and collect the publisher share for the songs in the agreement, for the term written in it.
What about my writer share?
Societies pay the writer share straight to you, never to a publisher — so you need to be a member of a society (we help you join if you are not). We make sure your songs are registered with your name, IPI and splits so that share reaches you.
I already have a publisher.
Then the songs it publishes stay with it. The full report still shows what is missing, and we can recover songs it does not cover — or work with your publisher on the gaps.
And the recording side?
Neighbouring rights (radio, TV and public play of the recording) are a separate mandate with performers' and producers' societies. Tell us in the form and we include it in the proposal.
How far back can you go?
Each society has its own claim window. Once it closes, money that was never claimed is shared out among other members — so every month you wait, the oldest period can be lost.
